Thomas a Kempis
The University Foundation Year course consists of 3 main areas: language development, research and study skills, and your specialist pathway subjects. Your specialist pathway will relate to your future subject of study.
The University Foundation Year is classed as a RQF Level 3 course (the same level as British A-levels or the International Baccalaureate).
You will have 16 lessons of 80 minutes per week. As the course progresses, the focus will change as follows:
- Term 1: General and Academic English language and skills, preparing university applications, introduction to your subject specialism.
- Term 2: IELTS preparation and first Specialist modules.
- Term 3: Continue Specialist modules, complete research skills through independent Critical Thinking project
Students taking the University Foundation Semester take the first two terms of the Year-long course. This means that the second term will be different depending on whether you start in September or January.
You can find out more about individual modules on the main Your Course page.
